ABOUT SGGSLatest Update: 18 March 2005 Purpose: The Sacramento German Genealogy Society, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1983 to promote the search for family histories of members who have a German heritage, to increase the understanding of the cultural diversity of life in the German-speaking areas of Europe and in the United States, to encourage and provide the means for members to share their genealogical findings through meetings and a quarterly journal, and to promote the collection and preservation of family history materials Membership: Over 1,300 members from almost every state in the USA, as well as from Canada, Australia, England and Germany. Benefits: SGGS membership privileges include regular meeting lectures and programs, study groups; the quarterly journal, Der Blumenbaum, with free queries; access to German language classes; surname/locality files and pedigree charts; and reduced fees for some special events.
